Tech Tips

In this age of computers, many of us have noticed a decline in our vision. This comes from spending too much time in front of a computer screen. Symptoms include eye fatigue, blurred vision, headaches, and back and neck aches. Here are some helpful hints to increase comfort.

• Use a glare-resistant monitor, preferably with a flat-panel screen. Position the screen at least 20 inches from you so that you look down slightly when reading.
• Place your keyboard directly in front of your monitor, as opposed to an angle; this will cut down on excessive eye movements.
• Take a break about every 20 minutes. Blink your eyes, breathe in deeply, and stretch your neck and shoulders. Focus on objects that are at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. We call this the 20/20 rule. If you wear glasses, have an anti-reflective coating to decrease glare. Take good care of your eyes and have regular eye exams to insure they stay healthy.
